Doctor-led · Manchester
Blood tests are easy. Understanding them isn’t.
Anyone can post you a finger-prick kit and a chart full of arrows. VitaTest gives you a proper venous draw in Manchester, analysed by The Doctors Laboratory, then a GMC-registered doctor who writes to you about what it means — and sits down with you to explain it.
Consultation included with every panel · results in 2–3 working days
Your results
Complete Health Check
| Ferritin | 18 µg/L | Low |
| HbA1c | 34 mmol/mol | Normal |
| Free T4 | 16.1 pmol/L | Normal |
| Vitamin D | 41 nmol/L | Low |
Dr Ommid’s note
GMC-registered · 14 Aug
“Your ferritin is genuinely low, and that is almost certainly why you have been tired — it is a far better explanation than your thyroid, which is completely normal. Your vitamin D is mildly low too, which is unremarkable for Manchester in February. I’d like to treat the iron first and see how you feel. Let’s recheck both in twelve weeks.”

Why we are different
The UK blood testing market sells biomarkers. We sell a doctor.
There are companies that will sell you fifty-nine markers for less than we charge. What almost none of them will sell you is twenty minutes with the clinician who read them.
A doctor reads it. Every time.
Not a colour-coded chart and not an algorithm. A GMC-registered doctor reads your results in the context of your history and writes to you about them in plain English — what each number means for you, what it doesn't mean, and what is worth doing about it.
The consultation is included, not upsold
Most providers will sell you the blood and charge again for the conversation, if they offer one at all. We think that's the wrong way round. The conversation is the part that changes anything, so it comes with every panel we sell.
One test is a snapshot. We plan the second one.
Every consultation ends with a written plan and a date on it. A single set of results tells you where you are; the second set tells you which direction you're going. We'd rather be your baseline for ten years than sell you one test.
The tests
A short, deliberate range
Not four hundred products designed to confuse you into the expensive one. A handful of panels, each built for a specific person, each with a doctor attached.

How it works
Four steps, and a real person at the end of them
- 01
Choose and pay online
Pick your panel, pay, then choose an appointment slot that suits you. No waiting rooms, no phone tag.
- 02
Give your sample
A venous draw at our Manchester clinic, taken by a trained phlebotomist. Or we come to your home or workplace anywhere in Greater Manchester.
- 03
Your doctor writes to you
Your sample goes to The Doctors Laboratory. A GMC-registered doctor reviews every result and writes you a report explaining what it means — a piece of writing, not a dashboard.
- 04
You sit down and talk it through
A consultation with that same doctor to go through the report, answer your questions, and agree a written plan for what to do next and when to retest.

Compare
VitaTest versus a home testing kit
An honest look at where the differences actually sit. Home kits are a reasonable product and they are cheaper. They are also a different product.
| Typical home testing kit | VitaTest | |
|---|---|---|
| Sample | Finger-prick, posted to a lab | Venous draw, taken properly |
| Who reads your results | An algorithm, or a generic note | A GMC-registered doctor, every time |
| Can you speak to them | Usually not — or £58–£69 to a stranger | Yes, included in the price |
| Who you speak to | Whoever is on shift | The doctor who wrote your report |
| What happens next | You're on your own | A written plan and a retest date |
| Where | Your kitchen table | A Manchester clinic, or we come to you |
| Named laboratory | Often undisclosed | The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) |
Comparison describes commonly observed practice across the UK direct-to-consumer blood testing sector and is not a statement about any specific named company. Practices vary between providers and change over time. Prices quoted for third-party consultations were correct at the time of writing.
Your clinicians
Two doctors, not a call centre
You will know the name of the person who read your blood before you meet them, and it will be the same name on your report as in your consultation.
Meet the teamDr Ommid
GMC-registered doctor

Hormone specialist
Leads the women's health and hormone panels, including perimenopause, thyroid and fertility.
Do I really get to speak to a doctor?
Yes, and it's included in the price — not an add-on and not outsourced to a call centre. The doctor who writes your report is the doctor you speak to.
Why a venous draw rather than a finger-prick kit?
Venous samples give more reliable results across more markers, and they don't fail the way finger-prick samples sometimes do. For hormones and full blood counts in particular, the difference matters.
How quickly will I get my results?
Most panels come back from the lab within two working days of your draw. Your doctor's written report follows within one working day of that. The Longevity Health Check takes up to four working days because of the advanced cardiovascular markers.
Which laboratory do you use?
The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) — one of the largest private pathology laboratories in the UK, accredited by UKAS to ISO 15189. We name them because you should know.
Can I use the results with my NHS GP?
Yes. You get a full report you can share with your GP or any other clinician. We're not a replacement for your GP and we'll never pretend to be.
